The Diplomats of Dance Society supports the poetic and ground-breaking work of Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company, with a focus on their international touring as cultural ambassadors.
Established in 1992, Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company (DTSBDC) has grown around the artistic vision of choreographer Dana Tai Soon Burgess. From stories of immigration, the desire to belong, to explorational and contemplative works about history and our shared human condition, Burgess has been hailed as “not only a Washington prize, but a national dance treasure” (Pulitzer Prize-winner Sarah Kaufman, The Washington Post) and is the Smithsonian’s first-ever choreographer-in-residence at the National Portrait Gallery. DTSBDC is Washington, DC’s pre-eminent modern dance company, and has toured internationally to over 20 countries on five continents.
